U.S.-Stock Funds Are Up 25% as a Bullish Year Nears Finish

Last year’s declines for stocks, and for stock funds, are a memory, as fund investors prepare to book a solid 2019

Stock-fund investors are on their way to a year to remember, despite all the uncertainty swirling around the markets.

U.S.-stock funds posted an average total return of 3.8% for November, to push their year-to-date gain to 25% with a little under a month to go, according to Thomson Reuters Lipper data. November was the best month since June for the U.S. stock market, which has hit a series of records despite continued skepticism about how long the 10½-years-plus bull market can last.
